Lapsimessut 2026 kicked off with energy – jump rope brought movement to the event

The first day of Lapsimessut 2026 at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre is now behind us, and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect: energetic, joyful, and full of movement.

A total of 13,477 visitors attended Lapsimessut and Ruokamessut during the first day, and the halls were filled with smiles and excitement.

Jump rope connected generations

At the Ropee booth, one thing clearly stood out: jump rope.

Especially the long jump rope became the highlight of the day. It constantly gathered groups of children – and often entire families – jumping together.

Many adults stopped, grabbed the rope, and said:
"I used to do this as a kid…"

And just like that, they were back in the rhythm.

Long jump rope brought back memories

A long jump rope is more than just a training tool – it's part of childhood.

Throughout the day, we saw moments where:

• parents showed how it's done
• small groups formed around the rope

Many even started recalling old playground rhymes while jumping – something that clearly lives on across generations.
